Sophie is a dynamic and multifaceted storyteller from the Twin Cities, Minnesota, whose artistry spans Cyr Wheel, dance, circus arts, music, acting, and visual arts. A passionate creator with over 20 years of experience in the performing arts, Sophie’s work is grounded in healing, growth, and transformation. She is driven by a deep desire to inspire change in others, leaving audiences with a sense of wonder, empowerment, and a spark for personal transformation.
From a young age, Sophie immersed herself in dance, beginning with competitive dance and progressing to training at prestigious institutions such as Broadway Dance Center and STEPS on Broadway, as well as working with professional companies in the Twin Cities. In 2015, she expanded her artistic journey by joining Circus Juventas, where she studied Cyr Wheel, Flying Silks, Cord Lisse, Lyra, Dance Trapeze, Straps, Clowning, Stage Combat, and Acrobatics. This marked the beginning of her passion for circus arts, which she further honed by studying at the renowned Ècole Supérieure des Arts du Cirque in Brussels, Belgium. It was here that she coined the term Musical Cyr Wheel, blending her love of storytelling and music with the precision of circus movement.
As a creator, Sophie approaches her work as a lifelong journey of learning and refining. Her world travels and experiences living abroad in Europe, Central America, and across the U.S. have been transformative, helping her find clarity in her vision, a deeper connection to community and her purpose as an artist. These experiences, alongside her entrepreneurial spirit — having bootstrapped seven businesses — have shaped her into a resilient and adaptable artist with a keen sense of empathy.
Sophie’s passion for choreography and teaching extends beyond performance. She regularly teaches drop-in classes and serves as a guest choreographer at local dance studios, where she shares her extensive knowledge and encourages creativity in dancers of all levels. With a unique blend of discipline, innovation and artistic freedom, Sophie crafts choreography that challenges, inspires, and empowers her students, while nurturing their personal growth as performers.
Her upcoming graduation from the Circus Juventas International Professional Program in Spring 2025, specializing in Cyr Wheel, marks a significant milestone in her artistic career. Sophie’s work is not just about creating art; it’s about connection and emotional resonance. She strives to share stories that invite healing, spark transformation, and celebrate the beauty of play.
